So this box set has remasters of the first 7 Blind Guardian albums.

Has anyone heard the remaster quality?

I love their speed metal era, but those albums could definitely use some better production.

Production on the speed metal ones is vastly superior to the drowned out guitars of NIME and ANATO

Do a comparison yourself on youtube; that's what I did. Sound quality sounds vastly improved. I really hope I can get my hands on this before it sells out or the price skyrocket's.

Why would you waste the $200 for this when you can buy most if not all of the remasters for around $10 each?

Edit: 4 live discs, 2 versions of Nightfall in Middle Earth, and a rarities disc... sounds kinda like a waste of money to me.

Yes, from what I've heard on Youtube, it sounds like the bass drums have been mixed way up and all the instruments have been spread out a lot more evenly.

But Youtube is no substitute for hearing the real CDs.

Those individual albums on Amazon are 2007 remasters.

The albums in this box set are listed as 2012 remasters/remixes, which indicates that something has changed since then.

I have the box set. It's pretty darn spiffy, though I don't have much basis for comparison with other remasters. I could compare my earlier issue of A Night at the Opera, I guess.

I'm normally all for buying the newest and best releases with all the bonus tracks and all but this just seem kinda like a cash grab to me that's all. I mean how much more could they really have remastered the things that they didn't get the first time around?

The drums on TFTTW is my only complaint. They sound loud and poorly mixed.

Yeah the drums sound really weak and tinny from this video:

Sounds like the drummer's kit is a giant wicker basket.

Those albums are gems the way they are. No need to remaster, goddamit!
