Department OverviewThe Engineering, Planning and Strategy (EP&S) organization is responsible for delivering a stable and predictable work plan along with associated engineering. Our key functions include asset management, regulatory strategy, portfolio planning and financial change control, design and engineering, and customer service planning and design. The organization is focused on serving our hometowns by mastering PG&E’s asset knowledge while building a long-term work plan to ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.
Position SummaryThe Information Systems Analyst, Career is responsible for the core end to end business operations in within Demand Response Operations, which includes: data extraction and analysis, supporting internal and external data requests, managing and triggering Demand Response programs, administration and maintenance of systems and applications, forecasting and reporting, decision making, project and relationship management.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $78,000
Bay Area Maximum: $116,000
Job Responsibilities
Flexibility to participate in the Demand Response Emergency Team rotation
Maintain system and application administration functions; provide system and application upgrades and testing; lead and manage system upgrades between the business, vendors and customers
Provide internal and external customer support on system related issues and functions
Develop, modify, analyze, and understand system queries to collect data or import data as needed to complete reports or support business processes
Perform data analysis and support data modeling designs changes; compile and analyze data; develop and/or maintain data models for what-if analysis and for other business purposes
Develop and track business metrics and key performance indicators; maintain recurring (standard) and ad hoc (custom) reports to internal and external clients
Lead and advise team in configuring and developing reports; incorporate best practices and appropriate tools
Develop methodology for providing consistent responses to internal and external data requests; provide data to support responses for responses to internal and external data requests
Research best practices on data extraction and presentation; develop internal and external benchmarks in support of business decisions
Perform quality assurance on document extraction, purpose, process, clients, programmers, and changes, etc.
Assist in building test cases or procedures with users and support acceptance testing for software or data changes
Lead projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources and issues and facilitate design sessions with users; document requirements and design specifications
Develop or work with budgets and forecasts
Clearly understand requirements given by decision makers
Give clear feedback so clients and decision makers understand data and how to use it and what is usable.
QualificationsMinimum:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or related discipline or equivalent work experience
3 years of related experience
Desired:
MBA or graduate degree
Ability to choose from different analytical methods, approaches, and tactics to meet business analysis requirements in an efficient manner
Ability to run what-if modeling analysis and understand how different factors affect business outcomes
Ability to perform complex formulas and graphing
Strong qualitative and quantitative data and analytical skills
Aptitude for working with internal and external clients
Demonstrated ability to learn systems quickly
Ability to adapt to changing environments
Ability to perform basic SQL queries
Background in programming
Strong organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to present data and findings to an audience
Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and query tools
Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with demanding time constraints
Proficiency with MS Project
