TFT High Stakes Augments Guide: Fortune Favors The Bold

This article will be covering how to play “Fortune Favors the Bold,” one of the new High Stakes Augments in Set 12. These Augments provide the high risk-high reward playstyle that many players adore.

These Augments match the feeling of Fortune from Set 4 or Mercenary from Set 6. With Set 12, these playstyles are moving away from traits, and into the Augment system instead.

Fortune Favors the Bold is the classic lose-streak style gameplay that many players love. This article will help you avoid common mistakes and know what to do when you are lucky enough to get this augment offered to you!

Fortune Favors The Bold

TFT High Stakes Augments: How to Play Fortune (1)

Whenever you win player combat, get a loot orb. contents improve for each consecutive loss before the win.

Fortune Favors the Bold is Set 6’s trait Mercenary but in augment form! This was a favorite trait in Set 6 that single handedly made highlight reels as well as got many players invested into the set.

This augment is a gold tier augment that is offered on 2-1.

This means that although you can win streak with this augment, the ideal way to play it is to go on a large loss streak – ideally 8-10 and then winning a single fight to get a large cash out to go on to win the game. This is where the high risk part of the game comes in as getting a lower tier loss cashout after sacrificing so much health might cause you to not get the value out of the augment that you need. However, cashing out a 10 or 11 loss will almost ensure that you win the lobby!

Currently this augment boasts one of the highest winrates for a gold augment in the game with a solid average placement as well.

It makes sense as the augment itself is not too hard to play. The hardest part about playing this augment is to kill units for small loses without accidentally winning.

This means you want to make a weak board and potentially not slam items depending on how weak the rest of the lobby is. As well as, you will want to focus a lot of your attention on scouting your opponents to make sure none of them are weaker than you. Because your pay out comes from an augment and not units, if someone is only playing a single unit, you can sell all of yours to ensure that you lose.

When to Cash Out

TFT High Stakes Augments: How to Play Fortune (2)

Most players will cashout stage 4-1 or 4-2 before opponents get too strong at 4-5. Waiting to cashout can be possible especially with augments such as Tiny Titans, however it is inherently much more risky as you have to make a very strong board while being down an entire gold augment.

If you are lucky enough where the lobby is weak, then this is more easily done. However, in a stronger lobby, if you don’t cash out before 4-3 you put a high risk of not cashing out at all and losing your potential win.

How to Cash Out

TFT High Stakes Augments: How to Play Fortune (3)

Cashing out will vary by meta as you want to take health so that you have 2 lives post cash out.

If you decide to cashout on 4-1 or 4-2 level to 8 and roll advantage of strong 4 cost units or in some cases strong 2 star 3 units. Cashing out at 3-6 with 9 losses is often the easiest as you can push levels and roll making your spike much stronger than other players at 3-6 – however, you won’t get as much from it.

On top of this, you will lose a lot of economy by not cashing out after the PVE round. However, sometimes you have to, especially if you are low health. Ideally, you should be cashing out with around 24for an upgraded board and be sure to slam all your items to make sure you are as strong as possible!

Post Cash Out

TFT High Stakes Augments: How to Play Fortune (4)

Once you cashout, you can play the game however you want from there. If you happened to cash out a radiant item, figure out which units use it the best and be sure to put it on a solid 2 star unit that utilizes it well so that you are getting the most value out of it.

If you cashed out Champion Duplicators, but don’t have an upgraded 2* 4 cost or a 2* 5 cost carry and don’t have gold to roll then make sure to not get greedy with your duplicators and use them to stabilize your board.

However, if you are lucky enough to have hit a stable board, save those duplicators to make a 3* 4 cost or 3* 5 cost to ensure your win out!

In Conclusion

Now you should be ready to win whenever you see the TFT High Stakes Augment, Fortune Favors the Bold, available to you! It may seem intimidating, but these High Stakes Augments are a lot of fun and now you are more prepared to play them next time you see them!
